HEERLEN AND PARKSTAD LIMBURG
Since the 2nd quarter of 2015 Euquest supports the City of Heerlen and Parkstad Limburg with developing their EU agenda by shaping a focussed agenda from different policy fields from the overlapping local and regional agendas that interrelate with different societal challenges addressed by the EU2020 Agenda and the Green Deal. It sparked off with some quick wins a.o. by enabling the City of Heerlen in URBACT projects like City Centre Doctor, aiming at creating momentum and unleashing enthusiasm amongst local stakeholders for a larger restructuring plan. Also the Parkstad Limburg Energy Roadmap PALET gained support through projects like HEATnet and D2GRIDS by the INTERREG VB North West Europe programme . Later projects followed like the Heerlen Urban Innovative Actions project W(e)sh aiming at crowd sourcing of tasks in public space through an app and rewarded by a digital coin to be spent in the local economy. As such the whole agenda of Heerlen & Parkstad Limburg gained a support of around €20 million distributed over 14 projects in the past 8 years from at least 9 different schemes. As a result new clusters and initiatives are emerging or gaining support like in the field of digitalisation and circular (de)construction.
In the field of lobbying first connections have been successfully established both on political and policy officer level with the European Commission and the European Parliament.
